In Italy in the Horeca sector (Hotels Restaurants Catering) even big companies do not generally have members of their own staff in charge of safety and health at workplace. Therefore external consultants are the ones hired to ensure the protection of safety, health and wellbeing of employees, guests and visitors.
These consultants, since it is necessary to represent and to work at the same time at many different companies, may not have a continuity of presence.
Hence in this Horeca sector it is particularly important the contribution to prevention of the responsible employees (surveyors, “preposti “in Italian), who, on the basis of their professional skills, have the task of coordinating and controlling the safe unwinding of the work activities.
This manual presents in a simple way specific contents and concrete actions of control and support of the surveyors in the Horeca sector, making reference to the experiences carried out by occupational physicians, lawyers and technicians of prevention of Veneto and Tuscany.
